29 September 2010 – Layfield Group, www.layfieldgroup.com, a leader in geosynthetics and environmental containment solutions for industrial, oil & gas, mining and municipal markets is proud to announce the launch of Enviro Liner® 6000HD. Enviro Liner® 6000HD is a premier grade geomembrane that offers superior UV resistance, tensile strength and flexibility through its advanced formulation of flexible polyolefin alloys and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE).
Andrew Mills, Layfield’s R&T Manager mentioned, “We’ve spent a lot of time and effort working on the UV stability of our Enviro Liner. In our accelerated weathering tests we were able to retain 95% of the material tensile strength after 30,000 hours of testing; that’s the equivalent of 30 years of exposure with almost no degradation. Once we had the science behind us we were able to look critically at our warranties and were able to push them out to 25 years in appropriate applications.”
By enhancing technology in three important areas, Layfield’s Enviro Liner® 6000HD allows environmental, industrial, construction and municipal markets to incorporate geomembranes that have:
- Outstanding Flexibility – Unlike HDPE, Layfield’s Enviro Liner® 6000HD is thermally welded together in the factory. Pre-fabrication dramatically increases efficiency by reducing the number of panels and field seams required, which lowers on-site installation time and reduces dependency on weather elements.
- Advanced Weathering Resistance – The Enviro Liner® 6000 HD formulation includes an advanced UV inhibitor/antioxidant additive package which makes Enviro Liner® 6000 the most durable thin film geomembrane available for exposed service applications.
- Superior Tensile Strength – The Enviro Liner® 6000HD formulation yields a higher tensile strength (almost 25 per cent higher) when compared to HDPE (GRI-GM 13 spec), without compromising the flexibility of the geomembrane.
“Our testing has showed that Enviro Liner® 6000HD is a truly formidable liner material. In our testing it exceeded the values of almost all of the competitive materials. One example I recall is the potable water test where the test tried to extract harmful chemicals from the liner. Not only did the Enviro Liner pass the test; there wasn’t a single chemical detected from the entire list of 150 chemicals tested. That’s been the great thing about Enviro Liner; great test results with no surprises,” said Mills.
Manufactured by Layfield in North America, Enviro Liner® 6000HD is available in 20, 30, and 40 mil thicknesses and is certified by the US National Sanitation Foundation for drinking water system components (NSF 61). The 25 year exposed service weathering warranty is available on approved applications (for 30, and 40 mil thicknesses).
