Geosintec Iberia 1 - Seville, SpainThe inaugural edition of a new biennial conference series, Geosintec Iberia, will be hosted by the Spanish chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) 5-6 November 2013 in Seville, Spain. Dr. Jorge Zornberg (IGS President) and Dr. Jean-Pierre Giroud, one of the “godfathers” of the discipline, will deliver the keynote lectures. Together with the contributions of the rest of the event’s speakers, these discussions will provide a strong framework for the exchange of knowledge on the latest advances in the field.
Final papers are currently being worked on and a full program will be available soon. The key themes to be represented include:

  • Reinforcement and transport
  • Port and hydraulic constructions
  • Building construction
  • Environment
  • Examples of constructions in Spain and Portugal

The most relevant aspects of geosynthetics (geomembranes, geotextiles and related products) and the issues related to the development of new products and their applications will be explored under these themes.
EARLY-BIRD REGISTRATION
Interested participants are reminded that the early-bird registration deadline is 2 August 2013. After this date, the registration goes up 75€.

VENUE
The Congress will be held in the Hotel Meliá Lebreros, with an excellent location in Seville, in the vicinity of the high-speed (AVE) train station. Seville, the fourth city of Spain in population, combines traditional and modern architecture and is characterized by an intense cultural and artistic activity and a very lively nightlife. National and international flights at its airport as well as its connection with Madrid by high-speed (AVE) train, facilitate the access to this city.
