Big Fossil Creek runs through Haltom City, Texas, and over the years its banks have eroded severely. Some backyards have been reduced from 50 feet to 3 feet. The city just approved a $1.2 million gabion-wall project, though, to stop the erosion. The retaining wall will be 800 feet long and up to 30 feet high.
