In 2016, the HUESKER Group acquired Australia-based NBW Mining. Now, the company has announced the phase in this development: the establishment of HUESKER Australia Pty Ltd.
The move is part of significant international expansion for the global geosynthetics provider, which has also opened new production facilities and headquarters in Germany, the United States, and Brazil in recent years.
“Going forward, we are excited to provide NBW customers with the same high level of service and quality they have become accustomed to,” says Morné Breytenbach, Managing Director. “Importantly, we will service and supply the infrastructure, civil, environmental, and hydraulic construction and engineering industries directly.”
HUESKER AUSTRALIA OPENS THE MARKETPLACE
While mining was a central focus of the initial involvement, as NBW had supplied HUESKER’s Minegrid® for long wall mining and other applications for 20 years, the advent of HUESKER Australia opens the marketplace more to international geosynthetics brands such as HaTelit® C asphalt reinforcement products and SoilTain® coastal protection and dewatering tubes.
Prior to being appointed to run the Queensland-based enterprise, Breytenbach had focused on mining geosynthetics from the HUESKER Group’s international headquarters in Germany. He and his family have now relocated to Australia.

The company celebrated the acquisition and name change at the Sydney Opera House.
