Global geosynthetics manufacturer HUESKER is embarking on a significant expansion in Shelby, North Carolina. The current 50,000 sq. ft. facility will be enlarged to 150,000 sq. ft. for manufacturing, warehousing, and office space. Two markets that will certainly benefit from the expansion of manufacturing capacity will be agriculture and industrial. HUESKER has seen steady growth in its portfolio of products and projects in these areas.
In the latest issue of its e-newsletter GeoConnect, HUESKER noted how it has worked closely with the Cleveland County Economic Development Partnership (CCEDP) on a development package that would meet the needs of all parties involved.
The announcement of the company’s continued growth in Cleveland County has been tied to a primary message included in HUESKER’s geosynthetic brands: “A strong, lasting connection.”
“Making a strong, lasting connection includes much more than manufacturing,” said Sven Schröer, CEO of HUESKER inc., in the announcement. “We believe a strong, lasting connection also applies to our employees, our trade partners, our customers and our community at large. We are pleased to be expanding our operations in Cleveland County.”
Kristin Fletcher, CCEDP Executive Driector, noted that “HUESKER inc. is an excellent partner to CCEDP and truly understands the impact of their expansion to our mission to promote the county as a single economic entity.”
The proposed expansion is expected to create roughly 20 new jobs, with average wages exceeding the county’s wage standard. Total investment has been announced as USD $8,500,000, which includes facility expansion and new machinery and equipment acquisition.
