5 March 2010 – Located throughout the U.S. and in 6 other regions of the world, the Chapters of the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) are instrumental in providing the erosion and sediment control community with education and networking opportunities through regional conferences, workshops, field days, newsletters, websites and other services.
The following IECA Chapters have been recognized through IECA’s Partners for Excellence Chapter awards program for providing outstanding service to the erosion and sediment control community in the areas of member services, Chapter management and education and outreach. The program offers parallel awards for both Large Chapters, who have more than 200 members and Small Chapters, who have less than 200 members. This structure allows Chapters that may not have as many resources to be better recognized for achievements.
IECA is proud of the following Chapters for their achievements:
- The Great Rivers Chapter (IA, KS, MO, NE) earned the Most Improved Award in the Small Chapters category. They also received an Honorable Mention in the Membership Development/Services category.
- The Mountain States Chapter (CO, MT, NM, UT, WY) earned the Most Improved Award in the Large Chapters category.
- Two Chapters in the Large Chapters category tied to win this year’s Membership Development/Services Award of Achievement: the Mid-Atlantic Chapter (DE, MD, NJ, PA, VA, D.C., WV ) and the Southeast Chapter (AL, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, TN).
- In another tie, the Australasia Chapter (Australia and New Zealand) and the Northeast Chapter (CT, MA, ME, NH, NY, RI, VT) won the Membership Development/Services Award of Achievement award in the Small Chapters category.
- The Awards of Distinction are the highest honors awarded to a Chapter. In the Small Chapters category, the winner was the Australasian Chapter. They also won the Chapter Management (tied with the Northeast Chapter), Membership Development/Services and Education/Outreach Awards of Achievements.
- For the Large Chapters, the Southeast Chapter won the Rick Granard Award of Distinction, and also won the Chapter Management, Membership Development/Services (tied with the Mid-Atlantic Chapter) and Education/Outreach Awards of Achievements.
These Chapters received their awards in February at the Environmental Connection 2010 (EC10) Awards Luncheon in Dallas, TX. More information about the awards program can be found here:
