Denver, Colo. – The International Erosion Control Association Region One (IECA) staff celebrated the fifth annual World Parks Day by participating in a park clean‐up project at Greenway Park in Denver. IECA staff met with Denver Parks and Recreation project manager, Paul McLellan, to remove debris, cut out dead shrubs, mulch trees and clean up water run‐off damage from the recent excess rainfall in Colorado.
World Parks Day was created by the International Urban Parks and Green Space Alliance (IUPGSA) to communicate the critical importance of parks in a global context, promote best practice by learning from other parks services and encourage people to enjoy their local park and appreciate the importance of green space. This day gives individuals an opportunity to celebrate our parks and green spaces. The official World Parks Day is on September 21.
