By Diana Davis – Showcase your work and support the global geosynthetics field! The International Geosynthetics Society conceived the IGS Photo Contest to create an excellent collection of photos that showcase outstanding work by IGS members. The response to the inaugural contest was phenomenal, with many entries received.
This new tradition continues with the IGS Photo Contest 2014.
DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: JUNE 15
Open only to IGS members, the winning photos will be featured on the IGS website and may be tapped for use—with full credit—and recognition in various publications and lectures worldwide.
Winners of this year’s contest will be acknowledged during 10th International Conference on Geosynthetics (10 ICG), which will be held 21 – 25 September 2014 in Berlin, Germany.
Rules/Guidelines for the IGS Photo Contest

  • Photos should clearly display a geosynthetic material/technolgy in use
  • Provide a clear understanding of what geosynthetic technology or event is being demonstrated
  • Contestant must be an active IGS Member
  • Each member is eligible to submit up to 5 photographs to the contest
  • A title and description are required for each photo
  • The file size should not exceed 4MB per picture
  • File format must be .jpg
  • Photos should be sharp, well focused and aesthetically pleasing
  • “Before and After” photo sets are welcome and count as one entry
  • Final selection of First,Second, Third and Honorable Mention photos will be made by an independent committee
