5 April 2011 – The International Geosynthetics Society‘s (IGS) Technical Committee on Barrier Systems (TC-B) has launched a project Taskforce “Regulations” to gather an international database and resource detailing the regulations influencing the selection and utilisation of geomembranes and geosynthetic clay liners in all aspects of engineering and construction. This specific task is part of the TCB terms of references for the period 2010-2014. Your insights into the regulations that impact your state/province and national/regional interaction are strongly encouraged.
At a minimum, the Technical Committee on Barrier Systems seeks to collect:
- Regulation Titles
- General use for them
- Origin (nation/state/province and organisation)
Later, the Technical Committee hopes to include short analyses of the content.
This project will focus on manufactured membranes of ALL types–geomembranes of all polymeric types, geosynthetic clay liners, bituminous barriers, etc. Regulations impacting in-situ spray-applied membranes, however, are not being considered at this stage.
Your professional knowledge is requested. Interested participants should submit relevant regulations (as hardcopy, pdf, download link, reference quote, etc.) to Kent von Maubeuge at kvmaubeuge@naue.com or his address noted below by 30 June 2011. All gathered information will be shared in future and as the project grows, updates will be announced. One forum will be a special section on the IGS website.
