The Innovation Application of Technology award is given by Ben Franklin Technology Partners to “the company that strongly demonstrates a ‘break-the-mold’ approach to integrating new or existing technology into its business.”
East Coast Erosion Control manufactures rolled erosion control products, turf reinforcement mats, and sediment retention fiber rolls, and the unique T-RECS® high-performance TRM. The company will be formally honored with its innovative application award at the Ben Franklin iXchange event, 22 May 2018, at at the Zoellner Arts Center at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
INNOVATIVE APPLICATION AT EAST COAST
The iXchange awards process is focused on companies that have achieved a high level of business success with the aid of Ben Franklin funding or assistance, have helped others to achieve success, or have improved their business through innovation.
East Coast Erosion Control utilized a $75,000 investment from Ben Franklin Technology Partners over a period of three years. During that time, the company made operational process improvements to enhance customer delivery performance, reduce cost-of-goods sold, increase efficiency, and maximize production capacities.
“The upgrades allowed East Coast Erosion Control to further establish itself as a leader in the industry for production capacity, establish a competitive advantage, and facilitate continued growth,” the company writes.
The company, which operates production centers in Pennsylvania and South Carolina and which is supported by a distribution network throughout the United States and internationally, is currently planning a major physical plant and equipment expansion that will increase production nearly 50%.
