Additional details: more than 30 technical speakers will be part of the event. They are coming to the conference from more than 15 countries. A comprehensive technical exhibition will accompany the discussions.

The conference will incorporate a wide range of topics which are contributing greatly in assessing the risk associated with geohazards as well as their sustainable mitigation and adaptation strategies. Climate change is now accepted as main factor for heavy rains and strong storms causing more frequency of geohazard occurrences.

The conference will be held from 3 to 4 December 2009, in Sofitel Grand Centara, Bangkok, Thailand. It is jointly organized by the Asian Center for Soil Improvement and Geosynthetics (ACSIG), Southeast Asian Geotechnical Society (SEAGS), and International Geosynthetics Society – Thailand Chapter (IGS-Thailand), and is supported by the International Geosynthetics Society.

For further information, please access the conference website at http://www.set.ait.ac.th/acsig/Conference/.

Dr. Dennes T. Bergado is the conference chairman and chair of IGS Thailand, a chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society.
