On 12 November 2010, the Indian Chapter of International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) and Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) will hold an international seminar on “Applications of Geosynthetics.” The full-day event will be held at CBIP’s conference hall in Malcha Marge, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
Speakers and topics of presentations include:
- Prof. Jorge Zornberg, President, IGS — “Geosynthetic Landfills and Geoenvironmental Practice in USA”
- Prof Fumio Tatsuoka, Immediate Past President, IGS — “Reinforced Soil Structures: Japanese Experience”
- Prof. G.V. Rao, Immediate Past President, Indian Chapter of IGS and Former Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Delhi — “Development of Geosynthetic Practice in India”
- Prof K. Rajagopal, President, Indian Chapter of IGS and Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Madras — “Indian Experiences in Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil Retaining Walls”
The “Applications of Geosynthetics” seminar is being held at the very end of the Sixth International Congress on Environmental Geotechnics (6ICEG), 8-12 November 2010, a major event that is also based in New Delhi. This presents a strong chance for attendees of 6ICEG to add to their week’s professional development opportunities. The International Geosynthetics Society is a principal supporter of 6ICEG.
India-based professionals can attend the November 12 “Applications” seminar for 3500 Rs (IGS members) or 4000 Rs (non-members of IGS). International attendees can attend for USD $80 (IGS members) or $100 (non-members of IGS).
