The University of Kansas’s School of Engineering has received $75,000 in funding from the Mid-America Transportation Center for an investigation into the beneficial impact geogrid reinforcement may have on track ballast performance (longevity, economics). BNSF Railway Co. has provided ballast and track sections to the study and Tensar Corp. has supplied the geogrid reinforcement material.
