Vancouver, British Columbia – To support continued North American & international growth, the Layfield Group of Companies is pleased to announce new major capital expansion plans for its Vancouver, British Columbia and Edmonton, Alberta operations.
The Vancouver expansion includes the addition of a large new blown film extrusion line; adding 24 million pounds (10.9 million kg) of new capacity and facility upgrades supporting Layfield’s Environmental Systems, Construction Materials, Flexible Packaging, and Engineered Membranes & Film businesses. This expansion will provide important new capacity for Layfield’s core product lines of geomembranes, construction films, and specialty packaging products. Layfield is pleased to announce that construction has commenced on this expansion with completion expected by September 2012.
Layfield’s Edmonton, AB expansion plans include a 12 acre site, 125,000 square foot (11,600 m2) office, distribution, and production facility. The expanded production capacity will be designed for converting geomembranes, geosynthetics, and industrial fabrics using new state of the art welding and sewing technologies. Products produced in Edmonton are used in a variety of environmental containment and construction applications by the oil & gas, mining, water treatment, agricultural, and waste management sectors throughout North America and internationally. Construction of this new facility is underway with a completion date of January 2013.
