CHICAGO — February 17 — Leister Technologies AG, the worldwide leader in plastic welding and hot air equipment, will debut its new GEOSTAR wedge welder to the North American geosynthetics audience at Geosynthetics 2015 in Portland, Ore., February 17 – 18.
Faster, lighter, smarter –the new GEOSTAR wedge welder produces the perfect weld of thermoplastic sheets. “Fast and economical plastic welding” now enters a new dimension. Compact and astonishingly light, the new GEOSTAR handles “long-distance welding seams” without difficulty. According to Steve Hobbs, Leister’s geo systems manager for North America, “The GEOSTAR is a game changer.” With its nominal output of up to 2800 Watts and peak welding speeds of up to 39 feet per minute, it truly is a game changer.

Wedge replacement in under a minute and the adjustable chassis height―with which it masters even rugged terrain without difficulty―make it the unbeatable partner in civil engineering applications.
Operating convenience
The operating unit (“eDrive”) ensures convenience: The large monitor with digital real-time display of the three key parameters―joint pressure, speed and wedge temperature—as well as integrated voltage display enables permanent monitoring of welding parameters and voltage throughout the work process.
Ergonomics
The GEOSTAR also scores points for its ergonomic qualities: One-hand operation, integrated clamp/handle engagement and three parking and maintenance positions supplement the well-thought-out design. Generous spatial conditions for material input were taken into account in the design of the cast aluminum frame in order to accelerate the starting process. The new wedge geometry enables smooth gliding of the geomembranes over the wedge.
