A pilot project in Madison, Wisconsin is about to put to test whether the installation of geosynthetic booms can reduce the sometimes toxic algae that covers parts of lakes Monona and Mendota during the summer. One of the booms will follow the perimeter of the swimming area and stretch all the way down to the bay floor.
