The New Straits Times reports that aquaculture production on Lake Kenyir, Malaysia is to increase from 200 metric tons per year to 2000 metric tons per year–and by year end 2008. The East Coast Economic Region (ECER) is pushing for the expansion, and it’s being welcomed by industry. Terengganu Agrotech Development Corporation (TADC) expects fish cages to be the main method of increase. Geosynthetic cages are a new, growing method.
