The 6th International Mine Closure Conference (MC 2011) will be held 18-21 September 2011 in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. This conference is a not-for-profit conference and is presented annually in various parts of the world by the Australian Centre for Geomechanics (ACG) and the Centre for Land Rehabilitation (CLR).
Abstracts of 350 words are accepted through 1 February 2011. The list of conference themes provide ample opportunities for participation from across the field, including from the various professionals working with geosynthetics, erosion and sediment control materials, and affiliated technologies.
Among them:
- Erosion control
- Engineered mine waste cover systems
- Beneficial reuse of mining sites
- Recent mine closure case studies
- Vegetation establishment for closure
- Mine closure disparities: failures and lessons learned
- Landform design for sustainable closure
- Decommissioning of tailings dams
These are just a handful of the topics the conference seeks submissions on.
