Naples' Disposal Crisis

Italy has one of the world’s strongest geosynthetics manufacturing bases, but that hasn’t helped the city of Naples where aging landfills have been shut due to safety concerns, new landfills have been blocked by residents who don’t want a landfill sited near them, and crime syndicates that profit from a black-market disposal economy–which itself may lead to severe safety issues and a need for remediation.
