Research being conducted at Queen’s Royal Military College in Canada has produced a new earthquake mitigation geosynthetic that appears to be a combination of geofoam and geogrids. It has been developed by Dr. Richard Bathurst and graduate student Saman Zarnani and is intended to stabilze structures against earthquakes. Shake table tests have been very positive.
