New Websites for IGS and IECA New Websites for IGS and IECAThe geosynthetics field and the erosion and sediment control industry intersect frequently in products, applications, events, and engineering educational resources. This month, they have connected again— by coincidence—only on website development. Both the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) and the International Erosion Control Association (IECA Region One) have released significant updates to their online homes.

NEW WEBSITES, NEW FEATURES

Aside from the updated designs, both sites use responsive design strategies, meaning they adjust to the differing screen sizes of smartphones, tablets, and desktop and laptop devices.
Notably, each organization has made substantial strides in mobile friendly navigation and display.
IECA has published a short statement on its site’s launch, highlighting its greatly improved user experience (UX). The organization has also noted that the redesign is only part of a longer-term project for adding interactive tools and resources for its members.
“For example, [the site] will include an IECA member community feature that will serve as a central gathering place for our members,” writes the IECA, “to access resources, engage with peers throughout the world, ask questions, and receive feedback from others.”
The forthcoming features follow closely the motto IECA pushes: Connect. Learn. Get Involved.
The IGS has not yet released any statement on its updated website, but the UX is substantially elevated. Even here in the soft launch phase of the site the full suite of member resources through IGS are present, including the robust proceedings library (1800+ papers) and international membership directory.
As with all endeavors with new websites, visitors are encouraged to explore them, particularly to relocate the resources one previously used most. Some internal page URLs may have changed, which will require you to reset your bookmarks.
