The GAP 2019 transportation engineering event is honored to announce the NSSGA has arranged for Kevin Vaughan of Vulcan to speak on Inverted Pavements, Nov 4-6 at GAP 2019 in Colorado Springs.
The conference is bringing together one of the most engaging conversations and collaborations its inaugural event. Developed in partnership with representatives of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the US Army Corps Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), the practitioners at GAP will focus on technical and practical solutions to the geostructural aspects of pavements, railways, and airfields.
Crucial in the growing demand of global infrastructure projects is the subsequent use of designs which have reduced life cycle costs. The motivation behind expanding the use of inverted pavement systems is smart, but its application goes beyond running fiscally lean. Optimal utilization of the structural properties of UAB in combination with a thin HMA layer and a CTB layer provides an excellent method of achieving performance, project savings (initial and life cycle), and sustainability.
Vaughan will deliver his inverted pavements presentation in a November 6 session alongside some other notable contributions:
- Development of a 3/4-Inch Minus Crushed Base Course Specification – Eli Cuelho (TRI Environmental)
- A Comparison of Vertical Stress Distribution in Paved and Unpaved Roads – Jeb Tingle (US Army ERDC)
- Determination of Resilient Modulus for Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design – Elie Hajj (University of Nevada – Reno)
NSSGA is the leading voice and advocate for the aggregates industry. Their members are stone, sand and gravel producers and the equipment manufacturers and service providers who support them are responsible for the essential raw materials found in every home, building, road, bridge and public works project and represent more than 90 percent of the crushed stone and 70 percent of the sand and gravel produced annually in the United States.
Please Join us at the Antlers Hotel in Breathtaking Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The event will be held 4 – 7 November 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. GAP 2019 is a new transportation engineering event with direction from key figures of the US Federal Highway Administration, Federal Railroad Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, and the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center.
