A very successful PGI workshop was held at The 2001 International Containment & Remediation Technology Conference and Exhibition in Orlando Florida on June 10 th. 29 people attended the daylong workshop, including 5 representatives from the Argentine National Atomic Energy Commission. The US State Department provided two translators who performed simultaneous translation to Spanish for all of the PVC presentations.! ! !
The PVC Geomembrane Institute is developing a new presentation for engineering students and for brown bag meetings for engineering firms. Dubbed “The PVC Hour” by John Heap, the program will be a standardized technical training PowerPoint presentation that can be presented by any number of qualified PGI speakers throughout the US and Canada. The program will detail manufacturing, fabrication, installation and testing of PVC geomembranes for all types of containment applications. Geoffrey Strack, a civil engineering student at the University of Illinois is working on the durability of PVC geomembrane for his Ph.D. dissertation.
