Raven Engineered Films Division23 February 2011 – The American Institute of Architects has approved Raven Industries Engineered Films Division as a course provider for the AIA Continuing Education System, the primary source of ongoing professional education for the design and building industry. This approval was effective 1 November 2010, and Raven has prepared their initial course for implementation. AIA members are required to complete 18 hours, also called Learning Units (LU), of continuing education annually. Eight hours must relate to Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW) topics, with four being material on Sustainable Design (SD). Initially Raven Industries is delivering a one-hour AIA/CES course, which provides one LU of HSW content.

This initial course provided by Raven Industries entitled, “Critical Elements in Specifying Underslab Moisture & Gas Barriers,” is a comprehensive guide covering the critical elements for specifying underslab moisture and gas barriers to create healthy environments in commercial buildings and residential homes by preventing moisture and gas migration.

“Understanding the key components of how to specify the best possible moisture and gas barrier for the overall building design is crucial, and this course does an excellent job of streamlining this important element,” notes Tom Stoebner, Business Development Manager, for Raven Industries Engineered Films Division.

There is no charge for this course, and it can be delivered real-time through a live webinar or in person by a trained Raven representative. Upcoming webinars for this course are scheduled for March 2 and March 16, 2011; interested parties can sign up through the Raven EFD website at www.RavenEFD.com. You may also contact Raven direct to schedule a specific webinar date for your group.
