I-CORP International8 October 2009 – Around the world, polymeric materials such as geosynthetics have become crucial to safe and successful long-term infrastructure performance. In the Middle East and Gulf region, geosynthetic use is on the rise not only to support major construction projects but because the region’s polymeric materials industry is maturing rapidly. It will soon be a major production center. One of the most important geosynthetics used in today’s infrastructure is high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane.

On 12 November 2009, Dr. Ian D. Peggs of I-CORP INTERNATIONAL, Inc., will present a full-day workshop titled "HDPE Geomembrane Liner Performance: the Reality." This practical workshop will take place at the Radisson BLU Hotel in Dubai and follows SKZ’s 2nd International Conference on Geosynthetics Middle East (10-11 November). Dr. Peggs’ workshop will explore key waterproofing and geomembrane topics from that event in greater detail, such as:

  • Allowable rates of liner leakage
  • Liner integrity surveys and methods
  • Understanding failure and preventing it
  • Predicting end of useful service life for geomembranes
  • And more

These discussions will aid engineers, contractors, and government agencies involved in critical applications such as landfills, reservoirs, industrial cooling and processing ponds, wastewater treatment plants, oil and gas extraction, mining, and more.
