During Geo-Frontiers there was considerable discussion on the locations and causes of leaks in geomembrane lining systems. This information has been clearly summarized by Nosko et al in the following figure and tables. These data indicate where CQA should be concentrated. Most damage is on the flat floor and is caused by stone punctures. Heavy equipment on the soil causes some stone punctures and also causes much direct damage – excavator bucket teeth, bulldozer blade tears. In exposed liners much damage is on seams, often at seam/patch intersections or along the edges of seams covered by a bead.
