The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure have presented five potential designs for storm surge protection at Lake Borgne. The gate and levee protection system would guard the Industrial Canal. Geotextiles and earthen levees are a leading design candidate.
