During Environmental Connection 2016, Geosynthetica’s Elizabeth Peggs caught up with John Imm of APEX and Dave Chenowith of Western States Reclamation. Imm was at the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) show to promote his company’s latest advances for applying hydroseed and other hydraulically applied erosion control products (HECPs).
APEX’s new vortex pumping system is designed to distribute a wider range materials, increase productivity (25 – 30%), and increase profitability.
HECPs continue to grow in the field, for immediate erosion control, fast-establishment of vegetation, repair and stabilization of soils after wildfires, and green wall vegetation growth. Much of the coverage of the sector is generally dedicated to the product science, but the methods by which the materials are installed—their mixing, efficiency, successful application rates, etc.—are also important for erosion and sediment control.
Dave Chenowith backs it up. His land restoration work with Western States Reclamation provides a user perspective to the importance of applicator designs for hydraulically applied product performance and end user business success.
APEX’s newest equipment, with stainless steel tanks, mechanical paddle agitation, variable speeds, and enhanced pumping system, is helping ensure that the HECP sector continues on its growth trajectory.
