The landfill expansion debate in Shawnee, Kansas has grown so fierce that some residents have spread the story that the odor might cause cancer. Despite this, the expansion may finally go forth with the liner set for an autumn 2007 installation. The last of the public discussions will soon be held with council members stressing it is only for technical issues.
